Our School Community

Built in 1962, St. Joseph's is situated in a residential area beside our parish church which serves the Bowmanville area.

Our French Immersion students are drawn from the whole of the Municipality of Clarington, as well as Pontypool.  Our school population, as an Immersion Centre began in September 1998 with 300 students.  We are the first French Immersion Centre for our School Board.  We have a very devoted teaching staff who work with a dedicated group of parents to support all aspects of programming.

During our first year, our grade 8 class had 21 students.  From this class 19 continued in the French Immersion program at the secondary level.

Board approval during 1998-1999 granted our plans for a major addition to begin.  Our new building contains a regulation size gym with stage, and adjoining change rooms.  There is a new library and 2 newly renovated kindergarten classes.  Our current school population is 397 students, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
